Battlestar Galactica: Blood and Chrome to Finally Air Online
Having just watched “Daybreak” the other day (thus finishing my first pass at the series), I probably should be excited, but I just don’t know that my heart can take any more.
I don’t recall seeing much of the original Battlestar Galactica series in all of its 70’s feathered-hair glory. Other than a few flashes of memory, mainly of Lorne Greene as Adama, and maybe one brief snippet of the main characters playing triad, there’s very little there in the files marked “things from my youth.” Except… I did have a Talking Daggit plush, and the action figure for the Imperious Leader, of all things. I don’t recall asking for these on my Christmas or birthday wishlists or anything (and really, the Imperious Leader looks like an unused Mos Eisley cantina denizen), so I suspect that they were gifts (I did have an aunt who worked for Mattel at the time…).
Nonetheless, it’s just sort of funny (to me, at least) that while the original show had every chance to make its mark on an impressionable young lass, it’s been the reboot that has tugged at me. In fact, another BSG DVD has arrived from Netflix, and once again, I feel the odd mix of excitement and dread over this final season. Damn the heart marked by fandom, for it follows a bittersweet path!

The fabulous Megan Lara came to our attention last year with her Art Nouveau illustrations of science fiction heroines. Now she’s back with a line of licensed Battlestar Galactica posters, interpreting the series’ complex women through the lens of various painters.

More cufflink lust…this time for the shiny dress uniform accoutrements of Captain Lee Adama.

I wonder if I should buy this Battlestar Galactica-esque double tank ensemble from ANOVOS and imagine that I am part of the Colonial Fleet, lounging about in the officers’ quarters, playing cards, drinking booze, wondering who the heck might be a Cylon.
I can’t decide if $39.99 is too steep. Perhaps I should just save up and buy the Green BDU. I wonder if they’ll offer it in women’s sizes. Is it too much to hope for?

This 16-bit video game Battlestar Galactica parody by College Humor is pretty spot on when it comes to summing up the entire series. It also does a really good job of spoiling the entire series. Nods to both the classic and relaunch series ahead.
